The old man of the mountain
25"x32"
In this painting I wanted to convey the wild and beautiful country where bears roam, and
more importantly to convey through the bears expression that we are trespassing on HIS turf.

Bearing Little Bears

I do love Bears, and if I had to be any other animal I'd be a bear. I've been fortunate to have seen many bears in their natural habitat, its always an awe inspiring moment.

The Nomad
15"x10" Acrylic on Masonite
The wolf still has the greatest natural range of any living mammal except man. Quite amazing, considering that man has treated it as a threat throughout history. It is one of nature's great survivors and deserves our respect.

Grizzly
24"x36" Canvas
I sold this painting at the Florida Wildlife Art Exposition, I could have sold it there many times over which I found amusing at the time, and now upon reflection it makes me feel good that the American Public have grown so fond of this magnificent animal. He really is a symbol of all that is wild and beautiful in America.

The Statue of Liberty
19"x27" Pastel
I decided to experiment with pastels recently, and moved by the terrible
events of september 11th, wanted to do something connected with New York
City. The Statue of Liberty silently says it all, she is the visual
embodiment of the enduring values of freedom and liberty. An Icon of huge
significance, perhaps even moreso today than when she was first conceived by
Edouard-Rene' Lefebvre de Laboulaye in 1865. She was sculpted by Fre'de'ric
Auguste Bartholdi and unveiled in 1886, standing proudly ever since as a work
of incredible significance and beauty.
She was an inspiration to me from the moment I first saw pictures of her and
drew her as a young boy. She is a masterpiece of visual communication working
on all levels to inspire and uplift the human spirit.
I love the idea of art on this scale and have visualised many colossal
statues in my minds eye, hopefully one day I will get the time to depict them.
